Volume I : Chapter IV
Have you ever heard of Goblin Valley? Yeah, me neither. I had spent months pouring over travel guides, online blogs, must-see/do lists for each state and Goblin Valley was absent on every list. I know Utah is one of those states blessed with so much natural beauty but this didn't make a single shortlist? I felt cheated and grateful when a friend from Salt Lake City told us about it.
A few days before heading out, while at the Salt Flats, we met a man who had just been and he said he knew the perfect camp spot for us. The directions were something along the lines of, "go straight, before the park ranger station take a right, then your second left and you'll know when you get there." If I love anything about travelling, its this. We will be the first people to say yes to some janky directions to some secret spot and it has never failed us. We arrived at night to a fire that our friends had built and slept nestled up against some rock formations.
This place was a dream, it felt like Mars. The best part was waking up in the morning and seeing our surroundings for the first time.
If you care to follow those directions, keep in mind your phone won't work. You'll know when you've found it.
